Mise-En-Scene Stranger Things analysis

1) What do each of the letters in CLAMPS stand for?
The C connotes for costume, the L connotes for lighting, the A connotes for actor-placement and movement, the M connotes for make-up and the S connotes for setting.

2) What TV genre is Stranger Things? You can use the IMDB website to help you with this.
I personally think the TV genre is a bit of this and that.I think it is a science fiction as well as horror fiction. The reasons for why i specifically aimed at these two is because there are scientists doing experiment on a girl which shows that science is involved in this. The reason of why i say it is a horror fiction is because after the scientists done there experiment onto her she escapes and then gets these supernatural powers which she can move stuff with her mind which could then connote that if younger viewers were watching this they would get scared.

3) Choose THREE aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting, setting) and write a short paragraph for each about the denotation and connotation in the opening 8 minutes of Stranger Things. What is being communicated to the audience? How does the mise-en-scene help to communicate the genre of Stranger Things?

What i could see was a tall alien like creature walking to the boy on his bike.I think what is trying to be communicated to the audience is that something big is going to happen because of seeing that big alien.I think the meaning of that type of image is that to not stay awake late at night playing and then going home at nigh time because it would be really dark as well as dangerous because you'll barely be able to see anything.

Most of the lighting was quite in low dimmed places.Like when the boy reached home trying to escape from the creature his house wasn't all that well lit.I think what is trying to be communicated to the audience is that something really bad is about to happen because later on during the clip the boy ran out of his house into his barn (which wasn't well lit up too)  to load up a shotgun. When the boy finished loading it he aimed it at door but in the background it was dark and then the creature was behind him.I think now the reason why there wasn't that much light is because it wanted it too look mysterious and for suspense for what will happen next.

The props that were used in the clip was first of all the bikes. The bikes in the clip was so old fashioned which would straight away aim at who ever directed this program wanted to make it look really back into the 19's.The other prop that was used was the board game that all the boys were playing.I think what is trying to be communicated to the audience is that this was not just made in the 19's but properly the 1980's because that's when board games were quite popular then.
