industry and audience power essay

the internet has helped us all by e.g uploading music and communicating with each other. But the internet has had some major downfalls e.g trolling hacking ......In this blog task i would be exploring the negatives and positives of the rise of the internet.

The changes of the Music industry due to the changes to the internet is amazing like for example if you've made a song and you want to upload it all you got to press is the upload button and it would be self publicised. Also there is at least 100 hours of music uploaded every minute. This is called in media terms User Generated Content but in abbreviation terms (UGC).The other good points is that when people self publicise their music onto YouTube people could comment on how good there music was but then there is the terrible part of the internet for the music industry because if people could message good comments on YouTube they could also post inappropriate comments on it which could lead the producer of whoever made the music think that they are a failure. But even if the producers did post a good song and there was no bad comments the bad side of that is that trends always die which connotes that people could get bored of there type of songs and start to unsubscribe from there channel.

The changes of the film and TV industry due to the changes to the internet is astounding because if you missed an episode of a programme (EastEnders) you can just watch it on catch up or BBC I player. Also if a series of your programme has finished you can just go on Netflix and find something else that you prefer to watch because of the online streaming platform. The advantages for it is that if you have something that you want to watch on catch up there is no rush for you to watch it you could watch it anytime you like. Also if you wanted to watch original context you could. In addition to that if you wanted to watch a next episode of your favourite programme all you have to do is just watch the next episode on YouTube by searching it up.In other words binge-watching.Also you could do all that on one device a phone. On the other hand,If you do have something on catch up and you leave it for WAY to long copyrights run out and then you wont be able to watch it again.Furthermore,if you are streaming something streaming issues start to happen like when that annoying circle comes up in the middle of what your watching. But then there is another problem because if you subscribe to way too much stuff it gets really expensive when you have to pay your bills.Additionally,if you have finished watching an entire series by binge-watching it.It could get really annoying when you have too wait for like a million years for the next series. Moreover, if you are like really young (8-10) and you want to watch inappropriate stuff all you got to do is put in a fake date of birth and age and then you would get access to it.

The changes to the Newspaper industry has been quite remarkable because back in the 1980's you could only print media on newspapers and that would be it.But now in 2020 you can now use websites like the BBC news or you could download apps like the BBC news app. Also on the websites or apps you use it could be live streaming as well. The advantages for this is that it is easy to access and that it is less time consuming because if you were just reading a regular newspaper you will have to find the right page that you are interested in or at whereas now all you got to do is scroll down or up on your phone to find the right section you are interested in.Nevertheless the bad side of this is that if you do download the BBC news app some of the stuff you do read on the app is not all for free in other words 'paywall' which connotes pay to read.Along side with this since the rise of technology the decline of print industry is not that great because for the older generation really do rely on the newspapers because they have gone too old to know how to use the next generation technology. Also with this people could be bias which could not be that great because then people could get into arguments about who is better. On top of that, not everything you read on the apps you use could be true it could be FAKE NEWS which is really annoying because you cant tell what is right from wrong.

In conclusion, i think that the internet for the audience is good and bad because the internet does help people but then at the same time it helps people for wanting to do bad stuff so i am in the middle. My final thoughts for this is that to make the internet a safer place by seeing who sends bad comments to other people.
