Heat and Tatler extension tasks

 HEAT

Grade 8/9 extension tasks

1) How does the front cover engage audiences with possible narratives? Look for stories, cliffhangers, dramatic cover lines etc. Do for every cover line for Heat.
The front cover Heat engages with the audience by the stories and cover lines because of them being eye catching and interesting because of them being colourful because of the colour scheme. Another way Heat makes there audience more intrigued with the magazine is because of the images. This is because whenever Heat have multiple celebrities images on there front cover it connotes that they have funny things to say about them because of Heat trying to find the funny out of seriousness.

2) What are paparazzi images and why are they crucial to the front cover of Heat?
Paparazzi images are when celebrities get surprised pictures of themselves taken by the press or by the public in general to show what they are up too. This is crucial because of Heat being a more banter magazine too make there audience laugh and to shame the celebrities in a funny sort of way.

3) How does the front cover juxtapose text and images to create contrast and narrative on the front cover of Heat?
The front cover juxtapose text and images to create contrast and narrative on the front cover of Heat because it makes the magazine seem more interesting because of there being a lot of images on the front cover but there being little story of them in the inside of the magazine.

4) What do these two magazines suggest about representations of social class in the British media?
For Heat it is more for the working and middle class because of it being more lay back and more funny where as for Tatler it is more for the upper class and less for the middle class because of it being more serious and it being a more thicker piece of magazine to read which costs more than Heat that you can get for cheap and read on the tube to work.
